Webinar series on Intellectual Property Rights-Session 1- Overview and Legal Issues of IPR was conducted by Department of Library and Information Science, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda in association with the Department of Library and Information Science, the University of Calicut on 25th September 2021 10 am. Advocate, High Court of Kerala, Binoy K Kadavan was the resource person. The welcome address was given by Mrs. Sajitha K R (HOD Department of library and information science, Christ college). The presidential address was delivered by Fr. Dr. Jolly Andrews (Principal of Christ college). The keynote address was given by Dr. Muhammed Haneefa K. The webinar was very informative and presented effectively by giving real-life examples by Binoj Sir. A total of 99 participants attended the program. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs.Nimitha (Assistant Professor, Christ College).

Prof. Ullur M. Parameswaran, Prof. (Dr.) Raju M. Mathew, Prof. (Dr.) M. Bavakutty & (Dr.) Jalaja V. are the formal faculty members of the Library and Information Science, University of Calicut. Profile details about them are given below.
Prof.Ullur M. Parameswaran
joined as lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science in
1974. He served the university for 30 years and retired in March 2004 as
Professor and Head of the department. He has authored two library science books
and has 30 research papers under his credit. He is member of executive
council, Central University of Kerala, Kasargod.
He is the winner of
the Kendra Sahithya Academy Award for the best Tamil-Malayalam translation on
March 21, 2014. He got the award for his translation ‘Thiruvachanam’.
Prof. (Dr.)
Raju M. Mathew
Worked Professor and Head
of the Department of Library & Information Science at Calicut University
and Assistant Director at Al Ain University of Science & Technology, UAE.
He was a recipient of TCTP scholarship for higher studies in England.
Propounded Knowmatics, Dynamic Knowledge Bank-Industry
& Mathew's Theories of Knowledge Consumption-Production. His theories
‘Knowmatics and Knowledge Technology’ are described as post information
Technology displine. He spent quarter of a century for the research, has set up
a world body- International forum for knowmatics and knowledge technology and
presented his ideas before UNESCO. He runs a ‘Knowledge society’ and last month
he got an assurance of all help from UNESCO to go ahead with the project. He
felt more honoured when the former president of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam,
contributed a paper for the seminar held on Calicut university campus in which
the birth of ‘Knowledge society’ was officially declared.
Directed a Major Research Project on Knowledge Management
(1982-1987), Supervised /Guided 12 Doctoral Research Works, Organized
Conferences, Edited Journals, Published Research papers. - More than 31 years
of experience in Teaching Micro and Macro-Economics, Information Science,
Information Technology (Theory & Policies). Published several papers on the
Present Global Economic Crisis, Knowmatics, Knowledge Industries, Knowledge
Banks and Educational Reforms.
Dr. M. Bavakutty post
graduated from the university of Delhi and received his Ph.D from university of Kerala. initially
started his career as a college librarian at MES Ponnani college (1968-69) and
moved to Farook College, Calicut (1970-72),then joined as Lecturer, Library
and Information Science, University of Kerala (1972– ’77), Deputy University
Librarian, University of Calicut (1977 – 1987), University Librarian,
University of Calicut. (1987 – 1998), Professor of Library Science, University
of Calicut. (1998 – 2000), Registrar, University of Calicut (2000 – 2001),
University Librarian and Professor & Head, Department of Library and
Information Science, University of Calicut (2001 – 2002); Professor & Head,
Department of Library and Information Science, Pondicherry Central University
(2007 – 2009).
Under the
supervision of Dr. M. Bavakutty 13 Ph. D's were carried out. He authored 7 books and edited 5 books.
Published 7 articles in international journals; 51 papers were published in professional journals and 38 Professional papers were presented in International and
national Conferences/Seminars. He contributed much to LIS profession in India.
Dr. Jalaja V. joined the Department of Library & Information
Science, University of Calicut in August 1988 as a Lecturer and designated
various key post like reader in 2000 and became Associate professor of the
department in 2006. Dr.Jalaja was a member of the Senate of the University of
Calicut and worked as the member of the Academic Council and Faculty of
Humanities. Dr. Jalaja was an active member of the Board of Studies in Library
& Information Science in the universities in Kerala, Madras and Mysore and
served as a chairman of the Board of Studies in Library & Information
Science, University of Calicut and had been associated as a question paper
setter and examiner in various other universities such as Kerala, Mysore and
M.G university.
Dr. Jalaja V. was
a research guide in Calicut University and Kerala Kalamandalam in Kerala and
also in Alagappa University and Karpagam University of Tamil Nadu and guided 18
students for PhD and about 150 M.L.I.Sc. and 5 M.Phil. Dissertations. Dr.
Jalaja V. has written more than 25 research articles and has given many invited
lectures her famous edited work is entitled ‘Organisation processing and use of
information processing in the digital era’. After about 23 years of service as
a teacher of Library and Information Science she retired on 31st May 2011.
