The Department of Library and Information Science organized a warm and spiritually enriching Iftar party on the evening of 26th March 2025 to mark the holy month of Ramadan. The event took place at the department premises and was attended by faculty members, students, and staff creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.Party was a successful and heartwarming event that reflected the spirit of Ramadan and the inclusive culture of the Department of Library & Information Science

On March 19th, 2025, our MLISc classroom came alive with a heated debate: “Should We Fear AI Becoming Smarter Than Us?” Students split into two groups—one side worried about smarter AI, while the other saw its potential as a positive force. Both sides participated in the debate enthusiastically.

The highlighted points include: AI could cause job losses, leading to social and economic problems; If not handled carefully, AI could be misused or act in unpredictable ways; AI could make us less reliant on our own reasoning and judgment; while the opposite team claimed that Technology has always brought fears but humanity adapts and benefits in the end; AI works only under human control; and Working with AI can actually make humans more effective, not less.

The audience joined in with questions about fairness, ethics, and whether machines can ever truly understand people. The moderator reminded everyone that while it’s important to be cautious about AI’s future, it can be shaped for good if we are careful and thoughtful.

The debate ended with everyone thinking deeply about AI—not just with fear, but also hope and responsibility.

Our students and research scholars had the remarkable opportunity to present their research at the ICSSR-sponsored two-day national seminar on "Empowering Communities Through Libraries for a Sustainable Social Change" conducted at Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur, Kerala on February 28th and March 1st, 2025.

Ann Mary, Safna, and Vivek, from first-year M.Lib.I.Sc. batch, made an impressive debut by presenting their research paper in the seminar. Their presentation was met with widespread appreciation from both the audience and experts in the field.

Anismithra, Sunisha and Aysha Zakhiya - research scholars of our department also presented different research papers at the seminar, that garnered significant attention for its depth and relevance.
Sunisha was honored with the Best Presenter Award for her oral presentation. Her ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently set her apart.

The department is proud to highlight the outstanding achievements of our students who participated and earned recognition for their incredible contributions. We congratulate our students and research scholars for their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to more such accolades in the future.
