DLISc welcomes you to the library blog

The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calicut, marked National Librarian’s Day 2026 with a series of engaging academic and recreational activities.

As part of the National Librarian’s Day 2026 celebrations, the Department organised a seminar on “Cyber Security and Privacy Issues in Libraries.” The session was conducted by Ramazan Yener from the Security and Privacy in Cyber Environments Lab (iSPICE), School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. The programme was conducted on 14 August 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Seminar Hall, CHMK Library. The seminar provided an opportunity for students and library professionals to understand emerging cybersecurity concerns.

Adding an element of excitement to the celebrations, FLISS organised a Treasure Hunt on 17 August 2026 at 10:00 AM. Designed as a fun and interactive activity, the treasure hunt encouraged participants to work together, solve clues and explore their surroundings. With four participants in each team, the activity brought together teamwork. The event also reflected an important aspect of library education: learning does not always have to happen through lectures and textbooks.
