DLISc welcomes you to the library blog

We are excited to announce that our very own students, Veena Nandanan, and Ameeramol, has presented research papers at different events, which bring immense pride to our department.

Ameera presented her profound study "The Attitudes of Tribal Students Towards Library Services: A Study Among Malayan Students in Ayalur Gramapanchayath”. The event was a National Seminar 'Exploring Tribal Realities of Kerala-Emerging Concerns and Discourses' conducted at ITSR (Institute of Tribal Studies and Research) Chethalayam, Sulthan Bathery, on January 23, 2025. The study discusses the perceptions, awareness, and challenges faced by Malayan tribal students regarding library services. It also delves into topics such as the accessibility of library resources, the cultural relevance of the materials available, barriers to usage, and the impact of library services on their academic and personal development.

Veena presented her insightful study titled "Public Library as A Catalyst for Sustainable Development: A Case Study" which was co-authored by Aswath Ram K., at the International Conference on "Building Sustainable Libraries in Connecting Communities: Librarianship, Technology, and Collaboration", organized by the Department of Library and Information Science at Bharathidasan University on February 7–8, 2025. The paper highlighted the pivotal role of public libraries in promoting sustainable development, focusing on how they can act as powerful tools in fostering community empowerment, education, and environmental awareness.

Their presentation was well-received by attendees, who praised the relevance and depth of the analysis. It is a proud moment for the department as their work reflects both academic excellence and a deep commitment to social and environmental impact.

We congratulate Ameeramol, Veena Nandanan and Aswath Ram K. for their remarkable achievement. We look forward to seeing more of their inspiring work in the future!
